What symptoms might indicate the onset of age-related hair loss?
It is important to realise that our hair ages naturally, even if there are no underlying health issues. It is certain that by the age of 60, we will have less hair and finer strands than in our younger years.
Hair loss in women often begins slowly, almost imperceptibly. The first signs are often just minor changes: more and more hairs are left on the pillow, the hair on the crown of the head begins to thin, the parting starts to widen and the hair strands become finer. How does ageing affect the hair? The causes of hair loss in old age
As we age, a number of changes take place in the body, which – both individually and collectively – are particularly damaging to women’s hair:
Falling oestrogen levels can disrupt the hormonal balance, which may lead to the development of female androgenetic alopecia.
