Hair Growth and Thickening FAQs
Is it possible for me to try out the treatment before committing to a course of sessions?
As the treatments build on one another and require continuous stimulation, a single session is only sufficient to initiate the hair growth process at a cellular level. However, visible results certainly cannot be expected in such a short time, so we are unable to offer a trial session.
In which season can the Denza treatment be carried out?
The treatment can be carried out safely at any time of year. However, it is important to protect the scalp and hair appropriately in every season. In areas affected by hair loss – particularly in summer – extra care must be taken to protect the scalp for 3–4 days following treatment. Hair provides natural UV protection for the scalp, but it is advisable to ensure adequate protection for the hair and scalp (with a hat or sunscreen) in every season, regardless of whether you are undergoing treatment.
After how many sessions do the results of the hair treatments become visible?
The number of sessions required before results become visible varies from person to person and depends on several factors, which are identified during a thorough examination and assessment. Based on their response to the treatments, we classify our patients into four categories halfway through the course of treatment:
Extremely early results: In approximately 10% of cases, our patients experience visible improvement after the very first treatment.
Early results: In 30–40% of patients, results begin to appear after the third or fourth treatment.
Results appearing at an average rate: Most patients – approximately 50–60% – notice a significant change after the sixth or seventh treatment.
Late results: Around 10% of patients see clear results after the eighth treatment.

How do hormonal and menstrual problems affect my hair?
Hormonal imbalances in women all affect the quantity and quality of their hair. Conditions such as PCOS, insulin resistance, thyroid problems, postnatal changes and the menopause have a particularly negative impact on the hair. However, it is important to note that Denza treatment significantly improves the condition of the hair even in these circumstances.
Where necessary, we recommend a comprehensive medical assessment and/or consultation with a specialist (gynaecology, endocrinology) prior to commencing the course of treatment; these services are available on-site at the Denza centre. (The cost of these is not included in the price of the treatment packages.)

Can the contraceptive pill affect the condition of my hair?
Contraceptive pills may temporarily mask the symptoms of PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), as they compensate for higher levels of androgens (male-type hormones) by raising female hormone levels. As a result, they may reduce the cosmetic concerns associated with PCOS: excessive hair growth, acne-prone skin or hair loss on the crown of the head. However, taking contraceptive preparations does not address the underlying cause of the hair problems, so when medication is stopped, hormonal balance can often become even more disrupted, and PCOS symptoms, such as hair loss, may then become much more pronounced than before.
Can Denza treatment be carried out during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding?
It is contraindicated to commence a course of treatment during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding. If pregnancy is confirmed during the course of treatment, the treatments will be suspended. Treatments may be started or resumed three months after the end of breastfeeding. If, by this time, the hair loss experienced during pregnancy or breastfeeding has not resolved, the trichologist may also recommend laboratory tests.
Can I dye, bleach or style my hair whilst undergoing the Denza treatment programme?
Yes, but you must avoid dyeing or bleaching your hair for at least one week before and after the treatments, and you should also reduce the frequency and intensity of heat-based styling. Frequent or inappropriate hair colouring can cause the hair strands to become dry, dull and brittle, whilst the high temperatures used in heat-based styling can lead to damage to the hair’s structure, hair strand thinning and increased breakage.
Can I have the Denza hair treatment if I’m wearing hair extensions?
The mechanical stress associated with hair extensions fundamentally damages the hair follicles and the hair structure. For this reason, wearing hair extensions is not recommended if you are dissatisfied with your hair. The Denza treatment can be carried out whilst wearing hair extensions; however, you can expect better results from the treatment if you have your hair extensions removed before or during the course of treatment.
